5 Tips to Make the Most of the Festival Cervantino
Posted by Shari Reynolds

This year’s Festival Internacional Cervantino in Guanajuato features more than 2,300 artists and 25 nations from 5 continents in venues throughout the colonial city of Guanajuato. Here are five tips to help you enjoy the Festival:
- Stay an extra day or two. If your concert starts at 9:00pm, spend the night in Guanajuato. Have dinner, stroll through the streets following the Estudiantina (student singers and entertainers in period costumes) and enjoy the city at night.
- Try a new restaurant. Check Cervantino guide. We’ve recommended several restaurants in the city close to the event venues.
- Visit the Pipila Monument. For a birds-eye view of the city, take the ride up to the top of the city to see the monument to Pipila, a hero in the Mexican war for independence. Walk down through the winding streets and enjoy Guanajuato at its best!
- Kiss your sweetheart on Callejón del Beso. The kissing street. Guanajuato is known as the kissing capital of Mexico.
- Attend an event at Teatro Juárez. If you can’t make it to a concert or play in this theater during the Cervantino, stop by for a visit during the day. It’s located in the heart of Guanajuato in front of the Jardín de Union.
